Leapmotor officially arrives in SA
Stellantis South Africa has announced Leapmotor has officially arrived on our shores, adding a new Chinese EV brand to the local market.
Founded in 2015, Leapmotor has officially launched its South African operations, with the Stellantis-backed Chinese automaker’s first product offering coming in the shape of the C10. The C10 is available in three flavours: A duo of battery-electric models (in front- and all-wheel drive, respectively) and the C10 Reev (range extended EV), which incorporates internal combustion. The latter derivative will be the first model made available in our market.
The C10 Reev delivers power to the rear wheels via a rear-mounted 160kW electric motor, charged via a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder internal combustion engine. While the petrol mill doesn’t directly drive the wheels, it is used to recharge the battery, allowing for a claimed combined operating range of up to 970km on a full 50-litre tank of fuel and a claimed electric-only driving range of 145km when the battery is fully charged. The C10 Reev’s DC fast-charging capability allows the battery to be replenished from 30 to 80% in just 18 minutes.
Other models from the Chinese automaker include the T03, a compact urban electric hatchback, the B05, a sporty electric sedan and the B10, a compact electric crossover. The latter two were recently unveiled at the IAA Mobility in 2025 in Munich.
