2025 Mercedes-Benz EQV in SA: Price and specs

The new Mercedes-Benz EQV 300 offers a zero-emission driving range of up to 363km and enters the local market priced from R2.3m.

Mercedes-Benz South Africa has expanded its portfolio of electric vehicles (EVs) with the introduction of the EQV.

Exclusively available in EQV 300 guise, the emissions-free people-mover is equipped with a single electric motor, fed by a 90kWh battery pack, which the Stuttgart automaker says is good for an operating range of up to 363km on a full charge.

The EQV 300 produces 150kW and 365N.m of torque, delivered to the road via the front wheels. According to the firm, the 2 748kg (claimed) battery-powered bus completes the 0-100km/h sprint in 12.1 seconds, with the top speed rated at 158km/h.

Thanks to the folks at duoporta, we can confirm that the EQV 300 is priced from R2.3m, making it slightly less expensive (by R1 578) than its V300d sibling, which we sampled at the local launch in November 2024. Included in the asking price is a five-year/100 000km warranty, with a maintenance plan spanning the same duration and distance available at additional cost.

As a reminder, the V300d’s 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel powertrain churns out 174kW and 500N.m, exclusively sent to the rear axle via a nine-speed automatic transmission. Tipping the scales at a claimed 2 145kg (639kg less than the EQV 300), the V300d sprints to the three-figure marker from a standstill in 7.8 seconds (claimed), before topping out at 220km/h. With a claimed average fuel consumption of 7.0l/100km, the diesel-powered V-Class offers a claimed driving range of 1 000km from a full 70-litre tank of fuel.
