Changan has officially launched in South Africa with a five-strong model line-up comprising the Alsvin sedan, CS75 Pro midsize SUV, the turbo diesel Hunter bakkie, Hunter REEV (range-extended electric vehicle) double-cab, and the all-electric SUV you see here, the S07, which falls under the automaker’s Deepal sub-brand.

Exclusively available in L spec, the S07 employs a single electric motor, which produces 160kW and 320Nm of torque. According to the brand, these figures allow for a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.9s. Equipped with an 80kWh battery pack, the S07 L offers a claimed operating range of up to 560km when fully charged. The firm says a 30-80% DC fast charge takes 35 minutes.

The Deepal S07 L is priced from R995 900, which includes a five-year/150 000km vehicle warranty and an eight-year/150 000km battery warranty, as well as a five-year/90 000km service plan.

As standard, the S07 L ships with an augmented reality head-up display, a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 14-speaker sound system, and ambient lighting. Advanced driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and driver fatigue detection.
