Blingjunk making a name for themselves
A local hip hop group, Blingjunk, has released their new single's music video Drop. They are looking to make it big in the music industry.
New, up-and-coming Pretorian hip hop group Blingjunk’s music video Drop reached 900 views within four days of being uploaded to YouTube. The group was started earlier this year by Morris Blacks, who later met Albert Phumelelo aka Taqricmass who introduced him to Nhlayiseko Advocate Congo aka Crush Marsharl.
The group is working at making a name for themselves and are waiting for a recording deal to get all their songs out there. “When we all met we imagined big things would happen. We all fell in love with the same genre, but are different artists. We all grew up listening to hip hop, I guess that is why we decided to go with it,” Blacks explained.
Blingjunk’s music is captivating to the youngsters, as they are able to relate to it. “We have a huge chain of songs, but for now we will put out some of the best songs we have such as Drop, Diamond in a Dirt, Proud of me, Bottle, Why You Mad and Farewell.
Morris Blacks said that their album contained pain, struggle, happiness, love, joy, fun and just real life stories. Blingjunk’s CD is almost finished and will contain about 15 to 20 songs. “We cannot give the release date of the CD yet, since we are waiting for a recording deal. We have been approached by many record companies, but I guess we have not found the right one to trust,” Blacks stated.
The members of Blingjunk have each worked with other hip hop artists like Reverb360, Blackhand and Mr Flame, 2nyce and AB Crazy. The group as a whole has also has worked with Yung Newton, Scribah Exit and Multi gee.
The group members are from Pretoria West and Pretoria Central.
All three artists are 22. Congo is at college while Phumelelo and Blacks are working. They are talented and want to show the world in a big way. The local hip hop scene should watch out, as Blingjunk is looking to make it big.
