Mr Rekord North to compete in Mr SA
The Mr Rekord title holder, Xavier 'Guru' Mgidlana, who was recently also announced the winner of the Top Model SA competition, will be competing for the sought-after Mr SA 2014 title.

The handsome 25-year-old man from Pretoria who was crowned Mr Rekord North in 2011 was recently also announced as the winner of the Top Model SA competition held in Johannesburg.
Xavier ‘Guru’ Mgidlana from Centurion outshone his competitors on stage on Saturday and, as first prize, walked away with immunity against elimination in the first few rounds of the Mr South Africa 2014 competition. By winning Top Model, Mgidlana will automatically compete against 19 other finalists (chosen from 100) for the sought-after Mr SA title.
Not only will he feature in the reality TV show about the top 20 finalists this year, but he will also be starring in a new film that will soon be showing on TV. In the movie Heartless, Mgidlana plays the main character – a heartless serial killer. He first discovered his love for acting and modelling out of boredom while still in college. A friend encouraged him to sign up for drama and modelling classes so he could keep himself busy.
“I used to think the entertainment industry was for sissies,” he admitted. “But it brought out a different side of me. I used to be shy and not very social before I started modelling,” he said. Modelling clearly also opened up new doors for him, as he is now working in the entertainment industry full-time. Mgidlana, who was signed by Boss Models during the Top Model competition, hopes to do more fitness modelling and dreams of posing for fitness magazines such as Men’s Health.
“I am very healthy and I like to work out. I believe all the time I spent in the gym showed during the competition and it gave me an advantage over my competitors.”
