‘Third Term’ slate shines at Limpopo ANC elective conference

The new leadership will face challenges such as water provision, road construction, and tribalism in the province.

Limpopo ANC regional elective conferences ended with Norman Mashabane region electing Pule Shayi as chair for a third term.

Shayi, who leads the “Third Term” slate, beat former regional secretary Goodman Mtileni with 182 to 118 votes. Mtileni heads the “Straight Line” slate.

Greater Letaba local municipality mayor Dagma Mamanyoha was elected deputy chair with 185 against 115 votes for Greater Tzaneen municipality mayor Gerson Molapisane.

Corporate services director at Mopani district municipality Sonia Ngobeni was elected regional secretary. Ngobeni beat Teekay Mohale by 182 to 114 votes.

Maruleng local municipality mayor Tsheko Musolwa was elected deputy secretary, beating Odas Ngobeni by 183 to 118 votes.

Giyani municipality manager Sidwell Mabunda was elected treasurer with 182 votes against Ba-Phalaborwa local municipality mayor Mariam Malatji’s 115.
