Sonny Pillay takes the karate championship reigns

More than 20 countries from around the globe are expected to converge on Durban at the end of November to take part in the Commonwealth Karate Championships.

The Commonwealth Karate Federation (CKF) last week appointed National Karate Federation (KSA) South Africa President Sonny Pillay as the CEO of the upcoming Commonwealth Karate Championships 2018.

“I am absolutely delighted to receive this historic appointment – a first for a South African,” said Pillay.

“Moreover, I wish to express my absolute gratitude to the CKF President Michael Kassis for the confidence he has placed in me by appointing me CEO. I therefore promise to deliver a world class event,” he said.

Pillay also serves on the World Karate Federation (WKF) technical board.
