The new kid on the block

Curro Mt Richmore opened their doors today to welcome their first intake of pupils.

Hundreds of moms and dads waited patiently for their children to open bleary eyes this morning as KwaZulu-Natal schools opened for the 2014 academic year.
Teachers returned on Monday to prepare their classrooms for this year’s pupils.
For Salt Rock brothers Michael and Damian van As the new school year means a brand new school.
Michael (10) and Damian (7) join almost 140 pupils enrolled at Curro Mt Richmore, the North Coast’s newest private school situated on the Mt Richmore Estate in Salt Rock.
The boys, who live on the estate, said they are excited because they do not have to wake up “when there is no sun” to get to school on time.
“We used to go to school in Durban and it was a long drive. Now we can wake up and walk down to school. I can even see it from my room,” said Michael.
The school’s campus is ready for its first group of pupils, with roughly a third of the total construction still to go.
This includes Curro Castle Nursery School, an early childhood development centre catering for pupils from three months to five years old, which will be built this year. Principal Steve Cromie is confident and looking forward to a year of firsts.
“We will ease into the year and take things slowly for a few months. Ultimately, I want our pupils to enjoy coming to school every day.”
Cromie is working on a special teaching method consisting of four Ps: productivity, pro-activity, passion and professionalism.
“We have a good band of teachers. This is going to be a great year!”
