Snakes, sun and fun at Simbithi

Simbithi Real Estate hosted the estate's annual family day in celebration of Youth Day.

Simbithi Real Estate hosted the estate’s annual family day on the estate’s rugby pitch on Monday morning for hundreds of its residents. Children and parents celebrated Youth Day how it should be done, outside in the sun having loads of fun. A number of stalls were set up around the field with food and drinks on sale while a number of businesses flogged their wares under the shade of small marquees. Children ran around for hours and had a blast sumo wrestling, rolling around in the giant zorbing balls, kicking around footballs and rugby balls. The main competition saw the children taking on the Simbithi Real Estate sales team in Tug-of-war. The sheer number of kids proved to much for Simbithi Real Estate as they pulled out three victories in a row. A crow then gathered to listen to Ndlondlo Reptile Park’s Neville Wolmarans talk about snakes, which are quite common on the estate. Wolmarans showcased a number of indigenous snakes common in the area and gave some good advice on what to do when coming across the slithering neighbours. There were “oohs and aahs” and few frightened faces when Wolmarans pulled out a Green Mamba for a demonstration.
