Cooking up a storm

The Coastal Living Bru cooking competitions!

The Coastal Living Bru – Food, Wine and Lifestyle festival at the Mr Price Pro Ballito ended off its three night long food bonanza with a bang on July 3.
All the exciting finals of the Fine Young Cooks Awards, ‘Fleur Du Cap So You Think You Can Cook Ballito Style’ and Cake Boss  competition took place on Thursday.
Taking first prize was chef Raynor Damons, from the Fairmont Zimbali Resort and is amateur chef partner Lori Cockroft.

The top 12 Fine Young Cooks competed on three separate finals. Four young cooks, each paired with a student from the International Hotel School, competed in a mystery box challenge.
Jessica Siedle, Keanu Dekker and Melissa Landman took first prize on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights respectively.

The Cake Boss Finalists, Melody Zwards and Jacobson Mthembu, were given three hours to decorate their cakes with Jacobson Mthembu taking first place with his intricate sea inspired cake.
