Ballito golf day raises over R100 000 for Ellie-Rae Reece’s treatment

Generous golfers and sponsors raised more than R100 000 for Ballito’s Ellie-Rae Reece (11) at a fundraising golf day at Simbithi Country Club last week.
Almost 90 players and a further 40 sponsors joined forces to help the brave youngster, who was diagnosed earlier this year with the rare autoimmune condition PANS/PANDAS (Courier, May 8, Rare illness turns young life upside down).
The condition means she can no longer attend school in person and requires costly treatment.

“Her medical aid has recently agreed to cover six of the 18 treatments recommended by her doctor,” said Ellie-Rae’s mother, Bianca Reece-Martini.
“Ellie-Rae’s treatment is ongoing, and our fundraising journey continues. But thanks to our community, we can sleep a little easier with some of the financial pressure lifted.”
Bianca thanked everyone who made the day a success. You can follow Ellie-Rae’s journey on Instagram at
