Owner, Rob Mitchell, who has 40 years in the hospitality industry under his belt, has successfully opened 107 restaurants throughout his career and knew he needed a passionate and dedicated executive chef that would lead his team.
With an impressive CV and discipline running deep within his veins, Rob knew that Steven D LaFountain Jr would be the perfect fit for the apron.
Steven, who has been in law enforcement for over six years, has a great understanding of how to manage and maintain heated situations and how to lead a team in the right direction.
All it took to inspire his massive career change thirteen years ago, was a family member working their magic in the kitchen.
“I always felt a need to explore a different avenue – I wasn’t quite satisfied and felt as though there was a gap in my fulfillment. That is when I decided to make a change and follow my new-found passion of cooking,” said Steven who was born and raised in America.
Having been trained by top schools including the New England Culinary Institute in Essex, Vermont in the United States, and shadowing some of the best world-renowned chefs in the world, Steven is determined to showcase his abilities through his culinary experience at Katmandu.
As a leader in the kitchen, he sees every staff member as an imperative role in their line, from preparation to the very end result.

Their signature dishes include Confit of Duck, Karon of Lamb, and Crispy Pork Belly – all paired with mouthwatering sides that compliment each dish perfectly.
