Dry cleaning hassles got you down, worry no more

Dry and Clean Ballito has been open for less than a month and has already started making waves in the dry cleaning industry, offering a quality service which rivals the best.

Not satisfied with the quality of dry cleaning you’ve received?

Are you tired of having to head out of town to Umhlanga to have your cocktail dress dry cleaned?

Fed up with having to send your Giorgio Armani two-piece suit valued at R30 000 to Johannesburg for ten days?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you will be pleased to know that you can do all of this in Ballito and, if you’re first in line, it’ll only take an hour.

Dry and Clean Ballito has been open for less than a month and has already started making waves in the dry cleaning industry, offering a quality service which rivals the best and, they also specialise in cleaning curtains and duvet inners.

Adding to the level of standard is the fact that the business is Woolmark accredited and eco-friendly.

Owner Roy Travers says that they do not make use of standard dry cleaning chemicals such as perchlorethylene, commonly referred to as ‘perc’.

Little do many know, perc, which is widely used for dry cleaning fabrics has carcinogenic effects, according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer.

“We don’t do dry cleaning,” says Roy.

Instead, Roy’s machines make use of a mixture of eco-friendly chemicals which are automatically measured and mixed according to the weight of each load added to their machines.

“It’s guaranteed, your suit or wedding dress, shirts which used to sparkle but are now stained or moldy and unrecognisable will come out looking as though they have just been bought,” says Roy.

He added that it is only a matter of time before more businesses switch to the method he has already adopted.

“The standard of ‘dry cleaning’ we use is the best in the world, you can’t get any better,” he says.

Roy says he first noticed a gap in the dry cleaning industry while he was in the Air BnB industry.

Tenants approached him and said that they weren’t satisfied with the services offered in the area.

Now, Roy says that they are already looking at expanding their operation and also including a 24-hour waiting period drop and collect service.

“We’re still discussing it with certain estates but in short, you’d drop your clothing off at one of the residences at 10am, and collect the next day at the same house,” he says.

He explained that given the machines and methods used, it would be very difficult for clothing to be damaged while being treated.
