The best of both worlds – Cambridge results

The final results in the 2019 examinations written by the students were released on January 16.

Congratulations to all the students who wrote the Cambridge external examinations in October and November 2019.

The Grade 6 students wrote the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Examinations in Mathematics, English and Science and recorded the best results to date, boasting 128 distinctions.

The IGCSE students also delivered the best results to date.

Another 100 percent pass by both the Junior College 2019 Grade 6 students and the Senior College IGCSE (2019 Form 3) students.

The students were recognised for their achievements during the Cambridge Honours morning held on Wednesday February 5 when every JC student was awarded their statement of results with students also being recognised for achieving one, two or three distinctions, with six students being awarded special certificates for achieving a perfect score of six in every subject, the highest rating by Cambridge.

In the SC Christopher Hill clinched the top honours with seven distinctions – every subject above 90 percent and an average of 93,33 percent. Prishanti Govender placed second with 90,66 percent (six distinctions) and Dianabel Lopez was third with 90,33 percent (six distinctions).

The cherry on top was Dianabel Lopez being placed first in South Africa for Spanish with 96 percent and Prishanti Govender first in South Africa for Accounting with 97 percent.

Eight students received their Academic Half Colours for an average between 70-79 percent and nine were awarded Academic Full Colours for an average of 80 percent and above.

Also recognised for taking top honours in their external AS level examinations were Luke Davis for distinctions in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics and Zara Deere for Biology.

These results give Ashton International College a perfect score for 100 percent pass rate in the IEB Matric Examinations, 100 percent pass rate for the Cambridge external Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Examinations, the IGSCE Examinations as well as the AS Level examinations.

Ashton is the only registered Cambridge Centre on the North Coast which has Cambridge qualified staff.
