Get your dose of adventure with Bucken 4×4 customs!
From doing more than 50 suspensions since opening in May, to doing custom detailing on Audis, no job is too small for the business who's owner Joshua Buckenham says they give thanks to God for all its success.
If you have big or small dreams for your 4×4 or off-road vehicle then the local Buckenham 4×4 Customs should be your first port of call.
Born from a Covid-19 tragedy which saw many lose their jobs, the small team has only been in operation a few months and has already made a name for themselves.
From doing more than 50 suspensions since opening in May, to doing custom detailing on Audis, no job is too small for the business who’s owner Joshua Buckenham says they give thanks to God for all its success.
When Joshua was left jobless, he and his wife Melinda were left guessing whereto from there, but as he says: “God saw us through”.
Joking about how it all started, Melinda says Joshua was working on a family odd-job FJ45 Toyota Land Cruiser when she said they should just open up the equivalent of a ‘Gas Monkey Garage’ in Ballito.
The joke was thinking nobody would take her seriously.
From walking into your typical automotive garage, the scene at Buckenham 4×4 Customs stands in stark contrast to other garages, with not a spot of grease, oil or dirt in sight.
The team’s demand for excellence, coupled with their knowledge and combined experience is what Joshua believes sets their business apart, with customers coming from as far as Gauteng to have work done on their 4x4s.
Buckenham employee, Brandon van der Merwe was retrenched earlier this year owing to Covid-19 cutbacks.
Asked to help out at Buckenham 4×4 Customs at first, he quickly became a valued asset to the company.
“What I like about the team here is that our service sticks with clients long after they leave,” said Van der Merwe.
QC Site Services owner, Rudi Mulder said he would trust no-one else to work on his Cruiser.

“When I met Joshua, it all sounded too good. I thought he was just a petrol-head. Instead, he is passionate and loves what he does, and I love the work that has been done on my Cruiser – good and proper work,” said Mulder, “I will be bringing the rest of my collection to him.”
