Sasol Salt Rock thanks customers for helping them build 10 years of memories

The Sasol station today will bring back fond memories for many, such as being the home of the world's longest bunny chow twice over, and how Sasol staff helped deliver a baby in the forecourt.

Celebrating 10 years of service to the North Coast community, Sasol Salt Rock’s success can be directly linked to its ‘customer is king’ motto, and approach toward continued reinvention and the way it gives back to the community.

It’s prime location on the corner of Salt Rock Old Main Road and Old Fort Road was identified years before the fuel station opened in 2012.

Sasol Salt Rock has become entrenched in the hearts and minds of the community and is also not a business to shy away from lending a hand where it is often most needed, such as with how it addresses the needs of nearby Sizani Combined School.

It has also assisted organisations such as Ballito’s Rotary Club and even created an on-site community vegetable garden – the list is endless.

Manager Praveena Thulkanum says as they celebrate their 10th anniversary this Thursday – to which everyone is invited – they look back on the years proudly.

“The support of our customers has been tremendous over the years and proves that if you treat customers like family, they’ll do the same for you.”

Sasol Salt Rock has supported many worthy causes, such as Cansa awareness drives.

The station’s achievements are not just talk, being the proud recipient of several awards, including best newcomer to the Sasol Group in 2014 and claiming the regional award for the best Sasol outlet in 2016.

Sasol has also been nominated as the best fuel station in The North Coast Courier’s Best of Ballito Readers’ Choice Awards.

Rewinding back to Asian cuisine, Sasol Salt Rock’s bunny chow has also featured in Erica Platter’s recipe book, Durban Curry Up2Date. Platter is a Ballito resident and former newspaper and magazine journalist and editor turned chef extraordinaire.

“We’ve shared and will continue to share a lot with our customers. We hope to see and welcome you to our birthday bash this Thursday at midday,” Praveena said.

To create some fond memories of your own, be sure to make a pit-stop the next time you’re close by.
