#BestOfBallito: Innovation keeps Alchemy extraordinary
By using uniquely South African products and adding an Alchemy twist, cocktails are super-charged, creating something special out of seemingly ordinary ingredients.
Since opening its doors in December 2017, Alchemy Bar has been a favoured assembly point for both Ballito locals and visitors.
Its inspiration is a modern interpretation of the meaning of alchemy – “the process of taking something ordinary and turning it into something extraordinary, sometimes in a way that cannot be explained”.
Alchemy says its commitment, work ethic and dedication to excellence are old fashioned. The drinks and food, on the other hand, are not.
In 2019 the Alchemy Kitchen restaurant was added, serving breakfast, small plates and all-day brunches. With superb coffee, inventive dishes, rotating wines available by carafe and bespoke cocktails, the aim is to offer a world-class experience in a relaxed North Coast way.
Always innovating, Alchemy recently launched new menus at its bar and kitchen with reimagined cocktails and an elevated food experience thanks to a new chef.
The ‘Other’ Room retail outlet has been enlarged, offering some of South Africa’s lesser known estate wines, rare wines from small independent winemakers, and a section dedicated to KZN wines, craft spirits and beers, as well as Alchemy’s award-winning Blackstrap Ginsala.
All wines are sold at retail prices, including when enjoyed on site.
With a DJ every Friday evening, new cocktails weekly and regular food and wine pairings, things are kept fresh. Visit Alchemy to experience some of the magic!
Alchemy Kitchen is open daily from 8am to 5pm for breakfast and tapas, and all-day brunch on weekends.
Alchemy Bar is open daily until late, and serves tapas and bar snacks until 9pm.
The ‘Other’ Room is open for retail sales daily.
