Building a collective legacy

Unlocking socio-economic benefits for you.

For 45 years, Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) has been an important part of this community, providing jobs, supporting local businesses, and making a significant contribution to the South African economy. As we look to the future, we want to continue to invest in projects and meaningfully contribute to our host communities for many more years to come. A few years ago, we invested in a project called Zulti South. This project was suspended in 2019.

What is a Pilot Plant?

Starting in October, we intend to trial a small-scale pilot plant. Pilot plants are often

used to test and develop processes but most importantly for RBM, this pilot plant

will help us to determine our readiness to operate in the community of KwaDube

and KwaMkhwanazi.

The pilot plant will focus on mining on a small scale and is expected to take

approximately six months to construct. Going ahead with this pilot plant, will be

important for seeking approval to move forward with the Zulti South Project, which

remains suspended.

Why it’s important to you?

We share your aspirations for the future, the desire to build sustainable businesses,

and the need for jobs. If approved, the Zulti South project is not just about mining,

it represents our shared vision for growth and prosperity and will support the

Government’s plan to grow the economy, create jobs and improve livelihoods.
