Paula Algar’s fulfilling debut year at Reddam
Algar's favourite part of her first year at Reddam House Ballito was witnessing the pupils' joyful and confident expressions as they arrived at school.
Having completed her first year as head of Reddam House Ballito’s Early Learning School (ELS), one of passionate educator Paula Algar’s highlights has been witnessing the growth in self-confidence of the young pupils under the school’s care.
The well-respected and beloved Algar joined the school a year ago and brought with her a wealth of international knowledge and 18 years of experience at Reddam House Umhlanga, where she created an environment in which each child felt valued and loved.
Asked about the key highlights of her first year, Algar cited the excitement of being part of “a beginning,” particularly with the opening of the new ELS building and the magical spaces that were created.
Another proud moment was presenting a successful Maths Week which was enjoyed by every child in the school.
She stressed the importance of giving children a concrete understanding of mathematical concepts, which helps prepare them for more complicated concepts and problem-solving later on.
Algar said another favourite aspect of the first year at Reddam House Ballito was seeing the joy and self-confidence on pupils’ faces when they arrived at school.
“Self-confidence is the foundation upon which children can build, and if they are confident in themselves, they will shine as unique and happy individuals.”
She also expressed her delight in becoming part of a committed and dynamic team who are passionate about making a difference in pupils’ lives every day.
Looking forward to her second year as ELS head, Algar said the school is planning more exciting “whole school topics” to enhance children’s learning.
More exciting news is that Reddam has opened another Stage 1 class.
