#BestOfBallito: Umhlali Country Club wins Best Golf Course and Best Sports and Coaching Club

Elevating the Umhlali Country Club's standing are its '19th hole', restaurant Mamma G's, as well as the on-site McKenna Academies, where students can obtain a world-class holistic instruction in high-performance golf and revolutionary IEB school education.

The titles of Best Sports and Coaching Club, as well as Best Golf Course in The North Coast Courier’s Best of Ballito Readers’ Choice Awards have been claimed by Umhlali Country Club.

With more than 1 500 members, it should come as no surprise that Umhlali Country Club received both awards.

General manager Derick Reinke said the club worked hard at creating an atmosphere which was always fun, friendly and inviting to all.

Umhlali Country Club’s 18-hole golf course dates back to 1973 and was designed by renowned course designer Peter Matkovich. The course itself has affectionately been referred to as the ‘Gem of the North Coast’ and is said to offer the best golfing experience, with players of all skill levels thoroughly enjoying the facility.

Elevating the club’s standing are its ’19th hole’, restaurant Mamma G’s, as well as the on-site McKenna Academies, where students can obtain a world-class holistic instruction in high-performance golf and revolutionary IEB school education.

“These wins represent a feather in the cap for us,” said Reinke, who added that they also catered for sport codes like tennis, squash and bowls.

“It is clear that our efforts to grow the club and our focus on being a family-friendly environment have paid off, and we are thankful to all those who voted for us. We could not have done it without your support.”
