New Tiggo 8 goes large for 2023

Both models come standard with safety features such as rear-cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and blind spot detection, among others.

Chery has introduced updates to its Tiggo 8 Pro flagship model for the South African market.

The new version offers two specifications instead of the previous four.

Exterior enhancements include a refined grille, illuminated Chery badge and an edge-to-edge LED lightbar at the rear.

The standard Tiggo 8 Pro rides on 18-inch aluminum alloys, while the sportier 8 Pro Max comes with 19-inch wheels.

Inside the cabin, notable improvements feature a new dual-screen infotainment system with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch central control display under a curved glass housing.

This system supports Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, offline navigation and intelligent voice commands, complemented by an eight-speaker Sony stereo.

The interior boasts leather seats (black in the base model and brown in the Max), electric front seats with ventilation, a heated driver’s seat, a leather multifunction steering wheel, dual-zone climate control with second and third-row vents, a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting with a dynamic “dance” function.

Other features include automatic LED headlights and windscreen wipers, keyless entry and start, an electric tailgate, cruise control, all-round park distance control sensors, a comprehensive camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and six airbags.

In terms of space, the Tiggo 8 offers 117 litres of storage in seven-seater mode, expanding to 739 litres with the third row down.

It also features a roof rack capable of handling an additional 50kg.

Under the hood, the Tiggo 8 Pro is powered by either a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine (145kW/290Nm) or a 2.0-litre turbo-charged unit (187kW/390Nm). Both variants come with a seven-speed automatic transmission and offer competitive fuel consumption figures.
