Seaton House has named Hilton College’s Tony Shuttleworth as founding headmaster as construction advances towards its January 2027 opening.

Earthworks recently began on the 25-hectare campus inside the Seaton Commercial Precinct, just north of Salt Rock. The co-educational Christian school is set to open its doors in January 2027, with phase one of construction expected to be completed by November.

Shuttleworth joins the project after serving for six years as senior deputy headmaster at Hilton College under headmaster George Harris. His background in strategic leadership, culture-building and academic oversight is expected to help shape the school from its formative stages.

Seaton House board chair and project lead Elwyn van den Aardweg said the appointment marked another important milestone for the school.

“Shuttleworth strongly identified with Seaton House’s foundational values and welcomed the opportunity to shape a school from inception,” he said.

“We believe he is the right person to establish a culture rooted in faith, character and academic excellence.”

Shuttleworth described his appointment as both a privilege and a responsibility.

“I was drawn to Seaton House because of its strong Christian ethos, the vibrant community behind it and its immense potential. My intention is that every child should leave knowing they are a gift to the world and capable of making it better,” he said.

Interest in the school continues to grow. More than 555 families have registered interest and over 232 formal applications have been received of which 159 are for the 2027 opening grades, which will include Grade 0000 to Grade 6 and Grade 8.

The campus, located between Seaton and Lalela estates in Sheffield, will feature admin and classroom blocks, a 450-seat auditorium, sports fields and a central main square.
