Ballito brothers make Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 list

The brothers won the iLembe Chamber Entrepreneur 2022 competition for their business Omninela Medical.

Ballito entrepreneurs Ricardo and Nicolas Lognath have been included in the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 list for 2024 which recognises influential young people across Africa.

Their online business, Omninela Medical – winner of the iLembe Chamber Entrepreneur 2022 competition – simplifies access to health products.

Their goal goes beyond just making money; they want to make a difference in healthcare by easing administrative burdens for patients.

Since March 2020, they embarked on a mission to deliver healthcare solutions to more than 4 000 locations nationally, which they achieved. The impact was tangible, with over 550 000 users on their platform last year – an increase from 390 000 users in 2022 who are experiencing the convenience and efficacy of Omninela’s offerings. They’ve partnered with medical aid schemes to help customers get reimbursed, making healthcare more affordable.

Thumbs up for Ricardo and Nicolas Lognath.

Ricardo expressed his excitement about being recognised by Forbes Africa, seeing it as validation of their company’s professionalism.

“Being recognised by Forbes is a dream come true, providing us with the recognition that Omninela.co.za is a world-class online store ready to assist the continent,” said Ricardo.

iLembe Chamber of Commerce CEO Cobus Oelofse congratulated the Lognath brothers and said the achievement of launching Omninela Medical as a successful start-up, is matched by the ongoing impact on both the industry and their wider community.

He said the company has the potential to alleviate the disruption to self care models that personal health tracking brings, as well as the way supplements are replenished.

The persistence and resilience demonstrated by the Lognath brothers on this journey allowed the Chamber to wholeheartedly recommend them for the 30 Under 30 honours list.

“The iLembe Chamber, due to the nature of Omninela’s exposure through its The Entrepreneur business accelerator programme, was a reference for the brothers’ nomination. “The Chamber highlighted that, as the winners of The Entrepreneur 2022 competition, Omninela Medical has set the bar exceptionally high in the programme,” said Oelofse.
