Celebrating Diwali and motherhood with The Gold Bar

Company CEO Sholain Perumal finds deeper meaning in the Festival of Lights.

The Gold Bar CEO Sholain Perumal experienced an extra special Diwali this year – her first as a mother.

Eleven months after the birth of her son, Perumal enjoyed the opportunity to find new meaning, love and joy in the Festival of Lights.

“It was my first Diwali as a mum, and though the lamps still flickered as they always have, their glow felt deeper, more profound, lighting not just my home, but the corners of my heart that motherhood has awakened,” she said.

Diwali is about light triumphing over darkness, a symbol of hope, renewal and joy.

“Growing up, I remember the excitement of new clothes, the sweet smell of homemade baked goods, and the thrill of sparkles crackling against the night sky,” said Perumal.

“But this year, it was different. Everything was slower, gentler and yet, more meaningful. My baby, now 11 months old, won’t remember his first Diwali, but I always will. I found myself reflecting on what Diwali truly means.”

Perumal said she feels as if a fresh flame in her life has been lit, leaving behind darkness and heading towards new beginnings.

“The Gold Bar wishes everyone a Happy Diwali and especially to those celebrating it for the first time through the eyes of their child.”

This Diwali, The Gold Bar at Ballito Junction is offering an extra 45% cash for all old unwanted gold jewellery sold until end of October 2025.
