Ballito surgeon opens in-room facility to ease medical aid co-payment burden

Dr Navendren Govender's rooms are located at Alberlito Hospital and are open Monday to Friday.

Ballito specialist laparoscopic surgeon Dr Navendren Govender has opened new consulting rooms to help patients avoid high medical aid co-payment fees.

Dr Govender has been practising at Alberlito Hospital since 2008, specialising in abdominal, gastrointestinal and endocrine surgery. He is highly skilled in minimally invasive procedures and has performed thousands of surgeries over the course of his career.

In addition to general surgery, Dr Govender offers procedures for gallbladder, anti-reflux, stomach, colon, thyroid and breast conditions. He also specialises in laparoscopic repair of inguinal, incisional and umbilical hernias.

“Many medical aids have recently imposed expensive co-payments for in-hospital endoscopies, which has led to delays and reluctance among patients to seek timely treatment, ultimately affecting outcomes,” said Dr Govender.

“This prompted me to open an in-room scope facility, which alleviates the need for hospital admission and accepts all medical aids, without the burden of excessive co-payments.”

Dr Govender’s rooms are located at Alberlito Hospital and are open Monday to Friday.
