#BestofBallito: Evidence based, personalised care at iHealth Laboratories
Dr Suvarna Buldeo uses in-depth consultations, advanced blood investigations and body composition analysis to detect early dysfunction and guide personalised interventions.
Dr Suvarna Buldeo’s multidisciplinary background allows her to identify potential health risks long before symptoms develop.
With expertise in pathology, clinical research, immunology and lifestyle medicine, she focuses on the relationship between metabolic health, gut health and immune balance.
From her iHealth Laboratories base at Zimbali Oasis, Dr Buldeo uses in-depth consultations, advanced blood investigations and body composition analysis to detect early dysfunction and guide personalised interventions.
“I have always been fascinated by understanding how diseases develop and how early changes in the body can predict future health outcomes, which is why I chose pathology,” said Dr Buldeo.
“I find particular satisfaction in helping patients uncover the root causes of persistent symptoms using a systems-based, holistic approach focused on health at the cellular level.”
Following her medical graduation from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Buldeo specialised further in pathology at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she also received a Discovery Excellence Award.
This enabled her to complete a clinical and diagnostic immunology fellowship at ARUP Laboratories in the USA.
“I remain grateful for that opportunity, which contributed to the development of a multi-disciplinary immune deficiency clinic and the accreditation of the immunology laboratory at Albert Luthuli Hospital,” she said.
Now established on the North Coast, Dr Buldeo is passionate about preventative, evidence-based care.
iHealth Laboratories offers consultations, advanced laboratory investigations, photobiomodulation (red light therapy) and the iHealth Metabolic Health Assessment, designed to identify early metabolic dysfunction and support optimal long-term health outcomes.
