Weylandts’ new Sibaya Coastal City store opens at Reefside Lifestyle and Leisure on October 3, bringing the brand’s Ballito and Umhlanga presence together in one destination and introducing a new expression of the Weylandts world.

Conceptualised by StudioLandt, the space has been shaped as more than a showroom.

Its architecture draws on the elemental character of the KwaZulu-Natal coast, with granite, basalt, concrete, sand, sea and sugarcane reinterpreted through material, tone and form.

Darker, earthy interiors give the space a sense of permanence, while water is a recurring theme, reflecting movement, renewal and the passage of time.

The journey begins at the entrance, conceived as a moment of respite from the humid coastal air before the showroom gradually unfolds. Visitors are guided forward and return along the same path, experiencing the space from different perspectives as furniture, craftsmanship, heritage and design reveal themselves in sequence.

“We want our spaces to feel like a world,” says Chris Weylandt, CEO of Weylandts.

“Sibaya is about creating a richer, more layered experience of the brand, where architecture, materiality, food, craft and design come together. We want people to slow down, explore and leave with something more than they arrived with.”

That thinking extends to Durban-based Shoots & Leaves, a locally rooted restaurant partner, and a dedicated boardroom for business and creative exchange.

Sixty years after Weylandts began as a workshop built on honest materials and considered design, Sibaya carries that philosophy forward on a new scale.

The opening weekend takes place on October 3 and 4, with limited savings on selected showroom pieces while stocks last.
