The weekend crime wrap-up.

The following crimes were attended to by Umhlali SAPS last weekend:
• A house was broken into while people were having a party at their home on Madeleine Drive on Saturday evening. The residents had left their belongings at one side of the house during the party and came back later to find it all stolen.
• A man was charged with bribery after a detective interviewed him on Saturday afternoon. The detective was allegedly offered an envelope containing R4000 to drop the charges of a theft of a motor vehicle against the man.
• Three men were arrested in connection with a house robbery on Jacqueline Drive, a business break-in at Valen Lodge and an aggravated robbery on Zen Drive which all occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning. The resident at Jacqueline Drive was stabbed by the intruders and a man walking with his friends was also allegedly stabbed when they were robbed by the same men while walking home on Zen Drive.
• A man’s neighbour in Sinqobile allegedly jumped over his wall and killed his dog and set his couch on fire on Saturday.
• A man discovered three burglars leaving his home on Hilary Drive at 2am on Saturday morning after hearing a loud bang. They made off with a laptop and an iPad.
• Two men were arrested after a robbery near Dinangwe on Saturday. A group of people were inside a house when they were held at gunpoint by four men. Cellphones and cash were stolen.
• A man was arrested over the weekend in connection with the rape of a five-year-old girl in Nkobongo. The incident occurred on Friday.
• A woman was raped while walking home from a nightclub in Shakaskraal on Friday night. She allegedly met a man who she knew on the way home who offered to escort her home. He drew a knife and forced her into the bushes and raped her.

• On Friday afternoon a man came home and found that groceries had been stolen from his house in Shayamoya. The locks on his doors had been broken. Another house was broken into on Friday night in the township.
Umhlali SAPS arrested 21 people for drinking in public, four people for possession of marijuana and one for possession of suspected stolen property.
Three suspects arrested in connection with three different cases were found with stolen property while the Umhlali K9 unit were doing a foot patrol in the Ballito area. The men were stopped during a routine search and found with items that were stolen during the robberies.
