A weekly round up of crime in the area.

The following crimes were attended to by Umhlali SAPS over the weekend.
* A bakkie was stolen from a house in Shayamoya on Sunday night. The owner had locked the car inside the premises.
* A plot on Rietvallei Farm was broken into on Sunday night and a generator and wheel barrow were stolen from the premises.
* On Saturday morning, a man entered a house on Compensation beach road and stole a laptop and cellphone while the resident was outside hanging up laundry.
* A house was broken into on Compensation beach road on Saturday night. The sliding door was forced open and cellphones, jewellery, handbags and a camera were stolen.
* A man allegedly assaulted his parents over the weekend. He had been playing music loudly in the living room at their house in Gillian Street. It is believed that he assaulted his mother when she asked him to turn the music down.
* A student at Shakaskraal Secondary had her backpack stolen during lunch on Friday afternoon.
* Two men gave a woman a lift to work from Shakaskraal on Friday morning. She had her cellphone in her handbag at the time. When she arrived at her destination and got out, her cellphone was missing.
* Early on Friday morning, a load of equipment (worth about R31000) was stolen from a house in Umhlali.
Umhlali SAPS arrested five people for selling liquor without a license, six for possession of marijuana, five for drinking in public, one for failure to comply with a lawful instruction and one person was arrested for a road traffic violation.
