The weekly crime round-up from Umhlali SAPS.

The following crimes were attended to by Umhlali SAPS over the weekend:
Copper pipes and light fittings were stolen from Tinley Manor Temple on Sunday night.
Four men assaulted and stabbed a man near Govender’s take away in Shakaskraal. The men stole a cellphone, but were arrested by police with the help of the community.
A group of women were assaulted by four men near Bhavash’s shop in Shakashead on Sunday evening.
A house was broken into in Seaward Estate on Saturday night. A sliding door was removed to gain entry.
A TV, DVD player and amplifier valued at R39000 were stolen from a house in Milkwood Lane on Saturday night.
While she was shopping, a woman’s car was broken into in the Build It parking lot. A portable air conditioner and accessories were stolen. Two men were seen carrying out the theft on CCTV footage.
A business in Shakaskraal was burgled on Saturday night. A man broke into the store room and stole a number of items. He was arrested later and the items were recovered.
A house on Windy View farm was broken into on Friday night. A door was damaged to gain entry and R25 000 worth of goods were stolen.
A woman’s son allegedly assaulted her and her boyfriend at their home in Shayamoya. He had demanded money from them. When they refused, he beat his mother with a stick and assaulted her boyfriend with a rock. The boyfriend was left with serious head injuries from the attack.
Two women assaulted and stabbed another woman with a beer bottle in Shayamoya on Friday night. They were arrested after the attack.
Cash, food and a hi-fi were stolen from a house in Shakashead on Friday.
Three men stabbed a man in Shakashead and stole a cellphone before fleeing the scene. The men were caught over the weekend.
On Friday night, a woman was woken up by her neighbour in a farm compound in upper Tongaat. She was accused of bewitching the neighbour, who then stabbed her in the neck and arm.
Umhlali SAPS arrested 23 people for drinking in public, seven for selling liquor without a licence, one for disturbing the peace, one for drunk driving and one person was arrested for possession of marijuana.
Umhlali SAPS is asking all security company managers to contact Captain Maharaj urgently.

Umhlali SAPS found a Sony camera and a orange and grey backpack in the vicinity of Little Maritzburg Road, Chaka’s Rock last week. The items are being kept at the station.
