KwaDukuza Cluster busts drug dealer

R80 000 worth of drugs seized in Durban.

The KwaDukuza Cluster task team is back on the trail of drug dealers after making an arrest in Durban that lead to R80 000 worth of drugs being seized.
The bust took place in Morningside in Durban on Monday morning. A 25-year-old man was arrested and drug-manufacturing chemicals and drugs were seized. The man was due to appear in the Durban magistrate’s court on Tuesday. He is being charged with dealing in drugs.
The task team had received information of drug dealing in the Berea area and began monitoring the area to catch the dealer.
On Monday afternoon, the team began a sting operation and spotted a Fiat Siena which matched the description of the car they were looking for.
The car was stopped and searched. R55 000 worth of hydroponic-grown marijuana was recovered. The man was arrested and charged.
The team was then led to the man’s flat in Morningside where drug manufacturing chemicals and magic mushrooms were found. Their street value is more R 25 000.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni asked the public to assist police in finding drug dealers.
We appeal to the members of the community to join police in the fight against drugs in our community by providing valuable information to the police that will lead to the arrest of drug dealers,” she said.
