
Umhlali SAPS attended to the following crimes over the weekend:
*A brushcutter was stolen from a shed next to a house on Ascot road which was broken into last week. The owner was only notified on Friday.
* On Saturday night a house was broken into at Edward Place. A TV, alcohol and cash were stolen. The sliding door was forced open to gain entry.
* A woman had her car stolen in Ballito while she was standing near the vehicle. An unknown man jumped inside the car and another man threatened her with a knife before taking off with the car.
* A garage in Salt Rock had a credit card machine stolen on Saturday afternoon. A man in a Silver Mazda had stopped for petrol. The attendant then gave him the machine to pay by credit card and the man drove off with the machine.
*A house in Shayamoya was burgled on Friday morning. A TV, sound system and cellphone were stolen.
*A three-year-old girl is believed to have been raped in Velani last week.
*A Ballito hotel’s security found that a television had been stolen from a hotel room on Saturday night.
*Ten metres of copper cable was stolen from the Foxhill sub-station on Friday morning. The theft was discovered after complaints of a power outage.
*Electrical cabling was stolen near Spionkop on Friday night.
Umhlali SAPS arrested two people for possession of marijuana, one for dealing marijuana, one for not adhering to liquor license regulations, 24 for drinking in public, three for selling liquor without a license, one for disturbing the peace and one person was arrested for road traffic violations.
