
The following crimes were attended to by Umhlali SAPS over the weekend:
∙ A Shayamoya resident allegedly killed a robber in his house on Sunday morning. According to the resident, the man attacked him with a knife and he was able to overpower the attacker and stabbed him.
∙ A Hilux bakkie was recovered in Inanda after it was stolen early on Sunday morning in Salt Rock.
∙ Police arrested a man who assaulted a Shakashead resident with a bottle on Sunday morning. The victim had serious facial injuries and was taken to Stanger hospital.
∙ Two cars were stolen on Saturday. The first was stolen at Thompson’s Bay parking while another car was stolen from Magwazas place near Upper Tongaat.
∙ Items were stolen out of two cars on Saturday. One car was broken into at Thompson’s Bay parking while the owner was on the beach and the other was broken into near Magwazas Place in Upper Tongaat while the owner was sleeping.
∙ Six houses were broken into on Saturday. Two houses in Ballito were broken into during the night, one house in Sheffield was broken into and entrance was gained a sliding door. Two house break-ins were reported in Shakaskraal while a house in Velani township and a house in Nkobongo had items stolen while the residents were away.
Umhlali SAPS arrested four people for possession of marijuana, five for selling liquor without a license, 23 people were arrested for drinking in public, three were arrested for road traffic violations and three people were arrested for illegal railway crossing.
