Three men who had been arrested in connection with the shooting on the N2 near Prince’s Grant yesterday, were each released on R3000 bail at the KwaDukuza Magistrate Court today.
The three taxi owners are facing two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
On Tuesday police discovered the bodies of two men with a car riddled with bullets next to the N2.
A third victim had survived with a bullet to the leg and was discovered hiding in the sugarcane nearby.
The vehicle they were travelling in had reportedly been seen leaving a murder scene in Verulam on Monday night, where a taxi driver had been shot and killed.

KwaDukuza police spokesperson constable Sibusiso Khuzwayo said the police believed this may have been be a case of retaliation.
The man who was killed in Verulam was the brother of one of the three men who were charged with the double homicide.
“The KwaDukuza police received a call that a car had crashed on the N2 near the Prince’s Grant flyover. We found a car that looked like it had rolled over multiple times, and was riddled with bullet holes.
They will return to KwaDukuza court on January 10.
