Several store front windows on Palm Boulevard were damaged in the shootout.

A man was shot and killed and three others were injured during a shooting on Palm Boulevard in Umhlanga in the early hours of this morning.

One of the victims was a security guard, said paramedics.

“This morning one of the other men died in hospital,” said Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Shawn Herbst.

Durban North SAPS spokesperson Capt Raymond Deokaran said several shots were fired in the exchange.

“At this stage we are unsure of the circumstances leading up to the shooting but it was between two groups of men.

“Police officers seized three firearms.
