Alleged ATM robbers arrested with explosives

The men were arrested and taken to Sundumbili police station for detention.

Five men who were allegedly planning to bomb an ATM in Mandeni were arrested last week.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson colonel Thembeka Mbele said police received a tip-off and intercepted the men on the Enembe Road at Isikhalambazo section.

“They proceeded to the area, on the way they met an Opel Corsa with five males fitting the description of the suspects.

“A search was conducted and police recovered a bag with explosives, crowbars and screwdrivers.”

The men, aged between 29 and 44, were arrested and taken to Sundumbili police station for detention.

They were charged for possession of explosives and appeared in the Mtunzini Magistrates Court last Friday.
