Tinley Manor family set upon by gang armed with bush knives in house robbery

The men ransacked the house and injured an elderly woman.

A Tinley Manor family have been left traumatised after a gang of armed men broke into their home in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The men ransacked the house and injured an elderly woman.

The family of four were woken up at around 1am and were confronted by six men armed with bush knives who gained entry into the house by breaking a lounge window using a brick.

Two of the occupants of the house, a 76-year-old lady and her daughter-in-law were injured on the head and hands and were taken to Victoria hospital for treatment.

According to Umhlali SAPS spokesperson, Captain Vinny Pillay the group of men, dressed in construction blues, made off with a laptop, an iPad and cellphones.

Umhlali SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
