Rapist jailed for double teen gang rape

One of five men who gang raped two teenage girls ten years ago finally received his dues.

Ten years after raping two teenagers during a housebreaking a 28-year-old man was sentenced to 45 years imprisonment in the Stanger Regional Court earlier this month.

The 28-year-old man who was 18 at the time of the crime was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for housebreaking and robbery with aggravating circumstances and 15 years imprisonment for count one of rape and another 15 years direct imprisonment for count two of rape.

Mthokozisi Darrel Mtshali was found guilty of all three counts committed in 2009.

Mtshali will also be included in the national register of sex offenders.

At the time, the two victims were asleep in their house after coming home with their mother from a family function.

The accused broke into the house with four of his accomplices, who held a cane knife to the teenage girls and proceeded to gang rape them.

The girls were taken to a district surgeon for treatment, where they were able to identify one of their rapists.
