Man arrested after hit and run, claims he was hijacked near Ballito
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and reportedly abandoned his vehicle near Shaka's Head.
Police have arrested a 21-year-old motorist after he allegedly falsely reported that he had been hijacked prior to a hit and run on the N2 involving his vehicle.
It is alleged that the driver had struck a pedestrian while overtaking in the emergency lane near the Ballito southbound off-ramp on Friday.
The driver of the vehicle fled from the scene.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Paul Herbst, the vehicle was found abandoned near Shaka’s Head.
It was later revealed that the motorist had made a false report and has since been taken into custody.

“A case of culpable homicide has been registered for investigation,” said Umhlali SAPS communications officer, Captain Vinny Pillay.
