KwaDukuza man accused of murdering his best friend
A tip-off brought police to the man's hideout before he could flee the area.
Wanted for the murder of a Groutville resident, a 21-year-old man was taken into police custody after a joint operation conducted at midnight on Sunday, November 24 which saw to his successful capture.
The KwaDukuza Rapid Response Team together with members from the Crime Prevention Unit had received a tip-off on where the man had been hiding.
According to the SAPS, the man had confided in a family member that he was planning to flee the area.
He reportedly planned to run after members of the community had identified him as the alleged murderer of his best friend, who, he is suspected of having stabbed.
KwaDukuza SAPS station commander, Brigadier SF Mhlongo commended members of the SAPS for swifting apprehending him.
The man has since been charged with murder and is expected to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court later today.
