Police swoop on alleged hijackers in Ballito
Four men were pulled out of a stolen vehicle in peak traffic and arrested.
Traffic came to a standstill on Ballito Drive(P445) between the Ballito Junction and Lifestyle shopping centre as officers stormed a stolen car too quickly for the alleged highjackers to escape.
Local CPF groups, private security companies and the SAPS made the public arrest in the heart of Ballito at midday today.

The white sedan was allegedly tailed from KwaDukuza by plain clothes police and siezed by both SAPS, KwaDukuza traffic department and private security.

An arrest was made and the four men were quickly taken away in a waiting police vehicle.
Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security confirmed that four male occupants in their thirties were arrested and handed over to SAPS.
“Once the vehicle was picked up on the system, all units were activated together with the Umhlali SAPS and local CPF,” said Van Reenen.
According to Van Reenen, the arrested men claimed to have bought the vehicle lawfully.
On December 12, the SNIPR licence plate recognition team, together with the SAPS and local CPF, tracked down a Toyota Hilux that was stolen outside Virgin Active Ballito earlier that morning.
