Husband of hanged Ndwedwe woman arrested for her murder
The couple were in the process of getting a divorce.
The estranged husband of an Ndwedwe woman, who was found hanged in a house in Msunduze Reserve in Ndwedwe last week, has been arrested for her murder.
Shortly before midnight on Sunday last weekend, the 31-year-old woman was found hanged at her children’s home, said police.
Three men at around 11.50pm that evening allegedly entered the home of the 31-year-old woman, and tied her up. She was strangled and assaulted.
The police found the woman hanging from the bathroom ceiling and opened a murder investigation.
“It is alleged that the deceased was in the process of divorce with her husband, and she was staying with children,” said provincial Saps spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala.
The husband further faces charges of defeating the ends of justice.
He is expected to appear in the Ndwedwe magistrates court this week.
Provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Khombinkosi Jula has commended the investigating officers for the swift arrest.
“We are confident that other perpetrators will be arrested soon,” said Jula.
