Teen arrested for child’s rape and murder
The naked body of 11-year-old Amanda Mthembu was found in a sugarcane field at Dokodweni Reserve.
Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy for the rape and murder of an 11-year-old child.
Earlier this month, the naked body of 11-year-old Amanda Mthembu was found by the Gingindlovu Saps and Umhlali K9 unit.
The body of the young girl had been left in a sugarcane field at Dokodweni Reserve. According to Saps provincial spokesperson, Mthembu had been strangled to death.
Young Mthembu went missing on June 14.
“After an intensive investigation by detectives, a 17 year old suspect was arrested at Dokodweni,” said Colonel Thembeka Mbele.
The accused is expected to appear in the Mtunzini Magistrates Court later this week.
