Mandeni cops rescue kidnapped man from car boot in Eshowe
The police officers were filling their vehicle up with petrol when they heard cries for help.
Mandeni police were instrumental in the rescue of an abducted 31-year-old man at Eshowe earlier this week.
The police officers were filling their vehicle with petrol at the time, when they heard a person screaming for help.
The screams came from a vehicle driving along Osborne Road and police immediately gave chase.
“On inspecting the boot of the vehicle, police found a man who had been severely assaulted and was bleeding,” provincial Saps spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala said.
Police questioned the four occupants of the car, who accused the victim of theft.
They were arrested.
The four men, aged between 16 and 28, have been charged with kidnapping and assault and are expected to appear in court.
The victim is recovering in hospital.
