According to reports, the woman and her husband had a heated argument when the situation escalated and her husband resorted to violence.

A 73-year-old woman was shot and wounded during an alleged domestic dispute in KwaDukuza earlier today.

According to reports, the elderly woman and her husband had a heated argument when the situation escalated, and her husband resorted to violence.

It is alleged he retrieved his firearm and shot his wife, inflicting a single gunshot wound to her abdomen.

IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support paramedics stabilised her and she was taken to hospital.

The incident comes shortly after another tragic weekend shooting incident in Tongaat, where three men were shot outside a tavern resulting in two fatalities and one person being rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Police are investigating and no further details are available at this time.
