One dead in Seatides shooting

It was the second of two murders in the wider Tongaat area yesterday and follows an armed jewellery store robbery on Monday.

A 24-year-old man was shot in Seatides last night and later died of his injuries.

The man was shot by an unknown assailant on Genazzano Road outside a local supermarket just before 8pm

According to police, the victim was still alive and ran into the supermarket before collapsing.

Tongaat Saps, paramedics and the Community Emergency Response Team responded and tried to resuscitate the man but he was pronounced dead on scene.

The motive for the shooting is currently unclear and the suspect was able to escape on foot.

A case of murder has been opened at Tongaat Saps and is under investigation.

The shooting was the second of two murders yesterday in the wider Tongaat area after a 28-year-old was stabbed and killed in an alleged workplace dispute on Gopalall Hurbans Road.

This follows an armed jewellery store robbery in the Tongaat CBD on Monday, which combined have prompted widespread concern in the community.
