Police crack down on KwaDukuza house robberies – four apprehended
Among those arrested was arguably the area's most wanted house robbery suspect believed to be the leader of a gang terrorising residents

KwaDukuza police have intensified efforts to combat house robbery in the region, arresting four suspects over the past two weeks.
Last Thursday, three men forcefully entered a resident’s home in a KwaDukuza township, held him at gunpoint and demanded cash, cellphones and a TV.
Despite the harrowing experience, the resident managed to identify one of his assailants.
Police arrested the suspected robber in KwaDukuza CBD on Monday.
Spokesperson for the iLembe cluster, Captain Alex Thomson, said the man was wanted for multiple offenses over the last few months, including house and business robbery and carjacking in KwaDukuza.
Upon his arrest, he was found in possession of suspected stolen cellphones and ammunition.
In a coordinated effort, KwaDukuza Saps and Xtreme Defence conducted a joint operation later that day, leading to the arrest of the remaining two men.
One was linked to another case involving house robbery and rape in KwaDukuza.
The three were scheduled to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Last week, another significant arrest took place in Etete, where arguably the area’s most wanted house robbery suspect was arrested.
He was wanted for his alleged involvement in nine other cases and is believed to be the leader of a gang terrorising residents in local townships.
One of the gang members was injured during a recent attempted house robbery in Hambanathi and is currently hospitalised under police guard.
Police are searching for two remaining members of the gang.
