Salt Rock residents bound and assaulted in robbery

The residents were set upon in broad daylight.

A quiet afternoon turned into a nightmare for two Salt Rock residents and their domestic worker when they were confronted by four armed robbers recently.

When they heard their dogs barking incessantly, one of the victims, a 67-year-old woman, went to investigate, thinking it was a delivery on Monday, February 5.

The three were then forced into the main bedroom, where they were laid face down on the floor and their hands bound with cable ties.

The 67-year-old woman was repeatedly assaulted during the ordeal.

After the robbers left, she reportedly managed to free herself and her companions, whereafter they ran to a neighbour’s house to report the incident.

The men robbed the home and stole a vehicle.

Umhlali police spokesperson, Captain Vinny Pillay, said they were investigating a case of house robbery.
