Series of gruesome murders rock Mandeni and Tongaat communities
According to Sundumbili police spokesperson Constable Wendy Dludla, the incident involving Siyanda Nxumalo occurred during a gathering at a shisanyama in Mandeni, escalating into a fatal confrontation.
Three gruesome murder incidents were reported between Mandeni and Tongaat last week.
An employee of Isithebe Clinic, Siyanda Nxumalo, was allegedly killed by a woman he was drinking with last Saturday.
Sundumbili police spokesperson, Constable Wendy Dludla, said the two had an argument and Nxumalo allegedly slapped the woman.
“At that time they were at a shisanyama in Mandeni, and the 31-year-old woman allegedly grabbed a knife from a table and stabbed him in the neck. He was rushed to a clinic, where he was declared dead,” said Dludla.
In another incident, a 47-year-old woman was gunned down by her husband in front of her 10-year-old daughter in Belvedere, Tongaat, last Wednesday.
Tongaat police spokesperson Captain Jasanathan Naidoo said after shooting her, the husband (43) was found near her body, gasping for air after he allegedly shot himself in the head.
“He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. A case of murder and one of an inquest has been opened,” said Naidoo.
A 31-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly killed her boyfriend in Mandeni by repeatedly striking him with a hoe tool on Sunday, March 17.
It is alleged that the two had been in an abusive relationship, as the woman had once stabbed the boyfriend before.
