iLembe district FCS unit nabs five rape and assault suspects

The youngest suspect, aged 16, was arrested for a rape case in the KwaDukuza area.

The iLembe District Family Violence, Crime Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit apprehended five suspects wanted for cases of rape and sexual assault during an operation on Wednesday.

The youngest suspect, aged 16, was arrested for a case of rape in the KwaDukuza area, a 17-year-old was arrested for sexual assault in the KwaDukuza area, while two 24-year-olds were wanted for cases of rape in KwaDukuza. The 26-year-old suspect was taken into custody for a case of rape in the Ndwedwe area.

iLembe District Commissioner, Major-General Anthony Gopaul, commended the FCS unit for the successful arrests.

“It will send a clear message to perpetrators that the authorities will take a strict stance on all crimes against women and children. We will ensure that these suspects receive lengthy convictions,” Gopaul said
